Ethiopian Cargo to return to Belgium

Ethiopian Cargo is to return to Belgium after concluding an amended air services agreement for an Ethiopian Airlines unit to operate 5th Freedom traffic rights out of Brussels National.

The carrier withdrew from Brussels in favour for Maastricht last year after it failed to secure onward traffic rights for Dubai World Central, Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok and Shaghai Pudong.

"This move will not only see the reinstatement of the jobs that were lost with the air carrier’s withdrawal in November, it will also create many new jobs as Ethiopian Airlines Cargo is planning to more than double the number of flights a week out of Brussels Airport compared against last year,” said Brussels Airport Company CEO Arnaud Feist.

Service from Brussels will begin later this week.
